Colors Make a Fashion Statement
Women are generally drawn to the colors that flatter their figure and complexion. Your favorite color doesn't always appear in your wardrobe if it doesn't
do a thing for you. If you're the majority, the color you most often choose to wear is the image you want to reflect, and the color that makes you look
and feel good.
Black Conservative yet sexy, you know that black is versatile. Wearing black clothing makes you appear thinner, giving your self-esteem a
great-boost.
Pink Traditional and charming, pink is feminine all the way. A pink and black combo is a trendy twosome for women who like to add mystery
to their otherwise girly image.
Red Bold and vibrant, you like to be the center of attention. Red portrays the adventurous side of you that's undeniable.
Blue Fun-loving and free, blue clothing attracts independent women who are comfortable with their inner-selves and achievements.
Orange Extroverted and gutsy, orange means you like to stand out in a crowd. Never taking life for granted, you enjoy new challenges and have
a tendency to come out on top.
Yellow Always the optimist, you're athletic and outdoorsy. Yellow reflects a vibrant personality and great intuition.
White Those who favor white prefer "safe" colors for a perfect match. White can be a great accent for a deep, dark tan, adding sex-appeal to
the "colorless" color.
Green If you're hot on green, you're a down-to-earth, natural beauty. While somewhat stubborn, you're still "the girl next door" who likes to
have fun.

Terms such as narrow, wide, regular, extra wide (and others) may be used by manufacturers to indicate a width size.
These terms are not standardized. Footwear manufacturers can use these terms at their discretion so it is difficult to
determine how the Brannock width measurement you measure relates to a manufacturers specification. Contact the
footwear retailer or manufacture to get specific recommendation on their width sizing.
Shop at stores that provide service to their customers and have knowledgable sales people. Getting properly fitted footwear takes more than
picking a shoe off the shelf and having the sales associate ring up your sale.
Be sure to have both feet measured. Many people have feet of different sizes. Fit to the larger of the two. Have your feet measured and fitted
each time you purchase shoes. Your foot size changes with age, weight changes, and other factors. The shoe size you wore in high school
probably is not the right size.
Have footwear fitted at a similar time as when you will be wearing the footwear. For daily footwear go when you've been on your feet all day your
feet have expanded.
Shoes don't stretch. If they don't feel right at the time of purchase they probably will never feel right.
Correctly fitted footwear can prevent long term foot problems.
Take time to fully lace and tie the shoe properly and walk around in the shoe at the time of try on.

The most overriding passion and desire for most women when shopping for a swimsuit is locating
that one perfect swimsuit that will flatter every curve and cover every imperfection. However, no
matter what their particular shape is, most women find swimsuit shopping difficult. This brief guide
to swimsuits, categorized by body shape, will help you find the best type and style of swimsuit to fit and flatter
your body.
Big Thighs: Bulging skin from the thighs and belly in a skimpy bikini can be an embarrassing fashion disaster. While a dark-colored one-piece
swimsuit will generally slim the body and solve the problem of bulging thighs, most women wish to receive the same results in a slightly more
fashionable swimsuit. To slim the thighs and elongate the legs, try pairing a light, attention-grabbing tankini top with dark-colored bikini bottoms. Be
sure to choose a pair of bottoms with high-cut legs. High-cut legs are the best secrets to slimming the thighs and hips. Also, be sure the tankini tops
and bottoms meet. A long tankini top will reduce any unsightly belly bulges, as well.
Pear Shapes: Some women are naturally born with pear shapes, and other women develop these shapes after pregnancy. Regardless of the
reason behind the pear shape, women with pear shapes often have a difficult time shopping for flattering swimsuits. However, there are certainly
swimsuits out there that will not only conceal the undesirable characteristics of a pear shape but play up the good characteristics, as well. Try a
one-piece swimsuit or tankini that pairs a lighter, eye-grabbing top with darker, more subdued bottoms. A low-cut or plunging neckline will draw even
more attention to the bust. Also, remember to look for swimsuits with high-cut legs in order to slim the hips and thighs.
Short Torso/Long Torso: Torso length is one of the most important factors to consider when selecting the right swimsuit fit. A swimsuit
that is too short will result in constant readjustment, while a swimsuit that is too long will result in a saggy, unattractive fit. Whether you have a short
torso or a long torso, the most important factor you can take into consideration when buying a swimsuit is the fit of the bottoms and the cut of the leg. If
you have a short torso, try a bikini with low-rise bottoms that sit just on the hip. The low fit of the bottoms will lengthen the appearance of the torso. If
you have a long torso, be sure to find bottoms that sit a little higher on the hips. Also, if you are slim in the belly, you may try a short tank-ini top that
ends just at the waist. This type of top will break up the torso and lend it a shorter appearance.
Big Bust: When looking for a swimsuit to flatter a large bust, be familiar with the amount of bra support you need. Many women with large breasts
make the mistake of choosing a swimsuit with no support. Swimsuit manufacturers now produce a variety of swimsuits with hidden under wires in both
bikini and maillot styles. A hidden under wire helps to lift and support the bust. Try a swimsuit with a bandeau-style top or wide-set straps to minimize
the bust, but be sure to choose a pretty, young color to avoid looking too matronly.
Small Bust: To accentuate and flatter a small bust, try a traditional triangle-cut bikini top. The triangle cups tend to lift and shape small breasts.
Also, look for a bikini top or maillot with a hidden under wire. This feature will allow for bra-style lift and support. Detailed seams around the breasts will
draw attention to the bust and give it a fuller appearance, as well.
Overall Pudginess: If you are feeling just a little uncomfortable and self-conscious in your swimsuit, but your body does not seem to fit any
of the listed categories, you may want to try a minimizer-type swimsuit. Minimizer swimsuits contain a relatively high percentage of Lycra or spandex in
the fabric (anywhere from 15%-20%) and tend toward an overall slimming effect on your body. Just remember that, while minimizer swimsuits are
fantastic for smoothing out bulges underneath the suit, they can create bulges outside of the suit if the straps or openings are too tight. Look for a
swimsuit with adjustable back and neck straps and tie-side bottoms to avoid this problem.

80% of women wear the wrong size bra so, grab a measuring tape and follow these steps to learn your measurements.
Band Size: place your measuring tape just below your breasts and around your body. Once you have determined that measurement,
add five to that number. If you get an odd number, round up. That new total represents your band size.
Cup Size: place the measure tape across the fullest part of your bust and around your body. Don’t pull the tape tight, leave it a little loose across your
breasts. Subtract this number from the Band Size figure. The difference determines your cup size as follows: Less than 1 inch = AA, 1" = A, 2" = B, 3" =
C, 4" = D, 5" = E or DD, 6" = F or DDD, etc.

Shoes
The type of shoe that a woman wears can indicate her taste in clothing, her career goals and even her ideal mate. Shoe personality profiles include:
Flip Flop: this girl is steady as a rudder - someone who sparkles with the energy of being truly alive!
Stiletto: An intriguing mix of traditional and modern, deep down she believes that men provide and women look good. At the same time she
embraces her raw female power, stepping out smartly, never afraid to state what she want. She’s extremely self-possessed and very much her own
woman.
T-strap: a woman who feels most comfortable in this shoe style usually has a natural gustiness and Betty Boop like cuteness.
Sneaker: Normally seen dashing about town, she always knows the coolest music and films. Quick on her feet and witty, often peppering
conversation with a bit of ironic or sarcastic humor just for effect. She’s gone just as fast as she arrived.

Fashion Mistakes
Here you'll find top women's fashion mistakes and blunders you may have noticed on other people, but you haven't committed them yourself, right?
Think again. Have a look around, these blunders are more common than you think and many of these can be applied to men as well as women.
* Your clothes don't fit correctly.
Wearing baggy clothes can add pounds. Clothes that are too small accentuate unsightly bulges. Don't buy anything thinking that it will be "just right" if
you lose weight. Look good now. If the size tag bothers you, cut it off.
* Wrinkled clothing.
That great suit or dress won't flatter you unless it's wrinkle-free. Avoid this fashion mistake and buy clothes that don't wrinkle or keep an iron handy.
* Dressing too trendy.
Don't try to satisfy every trend in one day. You'll probably just end up looking silly.
* Mixing two seasons in one outfit.
Your pieces will contradict each other. Stick with one-season fashions.
* Evident bra and panty lines.
Wear proper fitting undergarments under your clothing. If they do fit you properly and you still have lines, then your clothing is too tight.
* Exposed undergarments.
Keep your bra straps properly adjusted so they're not hanging out.
If your pants are low-rise, your panties should be too.
* Too much white.
White makes you look larger so limit this color. Don't even think about wearing white slacks or pantyhose unless you want to add bulk.
* Your skirt or dress is too short.
Be comfortable. Make sure you can sit down without having to worry about what areas you're exposing.
* Wearing too many colors at once.
This will make you look undecided. Stick with one to three colors.
* Too many prints.
Don't try to mix and match prints or you'll look way too busy. Patterns don't look good on everyone. If you're one of those people that look good in just
about anything, choose a pattern on the top or bottom, not both.
* Using the wrong accessories.
Top off your look with accessories that match your style. Choose the correct length necklace. Short chains and chokers tend to make your neck
appear larger. Don't over-accessorize.
* Wearing multiple shades of denim.
Skip the head-to-toe denim. It's ghastly and will make you look unorganized and cheesy.
* Dark colored clothing, light colored shoes.
Or visa versa. Keep your clothing and shoes in the same color family. White and black go with anything, but don't make the mistake of mismatching
light and dark colors.
* Large shoulder pads.
This fashion trend went in and out the 80's. If you wear shoulder pads, make sure they're thin and unobtrusive.
Sharpen your fashion skills with these practical tips to flatter your figure and make your clothes work for you. The styles you choose will affect your
appearance and how you're perceived.
Every woman has flaws. These ideas are for those that accept them, but wish to minimize them. Don't forget, stand up straight, have good posture and
carry yourself with grace. Not only will you appear taller, you will radiate self confidence and allure.
Know your body and what looks good. You are logically attracted to clothes, styles and colors that flatter your figure. Use past experience to your
advantage and trust your intuition, sometimes fashion and beauty etiquette comes naturally. Feel free to experiment!
Beware of those "skinny" mirrors in department stores that are misleading. If a style didn't look good on you in the past, it won't now -- unless you've
made some major changes.
This style guide is for general fashion tips and advice. Check out the current fashion trends to get the latest fashion tips and tricks for the newest
styles.
* Have plenty of neutrals on hand to mix and match.
* Open collar shirts and scoop necks will lengthen a short neck. Add a long necklace.
* Tailored clothes flatter most figures.
* Buy similar styles of the clothes you already own that you think flatter your figure.
* Always carry a safety pin in your purse for emergencies.
* Shoulder pads will help you balance large breasts and wide hips, but keep them slim.
* For a quick fix, if your slacks or slip is too long, roll it up at the waist.
* Break in your shoes before wearing for an entire day or special occasion.
* Use dryer sheets or fabric spray to reduce static cling.
* If you're losing or gaining weight, go to your local thrift store and get some in-between sizes that fit.
* Make sure your pantyhose fit correctly. Tugging on them in public is a no-no.
* Don't be afraid to try anything new.
* Always clean your clothing before you store it.
* Apply your perfume before dressing to prevent staining your clothing.
* If a department store doesn't have your size, ask. Many stores are set up to call their other stores to locate and ship
the desired size directly to you.
* Don't bare all. Leave some mystery to your look.
* Fix sticky zippers by rubbing them with some wax or a bar of soap.
* Secure your buttons by dabbing the backs of them with fingernail polish or clear glue.
This prevents the stitching from coming loose.
* If you're concerned about clingy clothing, don't buy anything with more than 5% Lycra.
* Leather has a tendency to stretch, so buy your pants one size smaller.
* Don't fret if you see an outfit in a magazine that is too pricey for your budget. You can probably put together the same
outfit at a fraction of the price. Just cut out the picture and take it shopping with you.
Fashion Fads
As the decades pass, fashion fads are often characterized by politics, popular movies, music and famous celebrities. History shows that designers also
dictate trends by changing styles often, allowing themselves and clothing manufacturers to keep making money off of our strong desire to be
fashionable and trendy.
1950s
The 50's marked the era of conservatism. After the end of WWII, families flourished, thus, the "baby boomers" children. Women's small waists were
often the result of a corset or cinch belt, worn with dresses or knee-length skirts. High heels or saddle shoes were the popular choices for shoes.
Poodle skirts and pony tails dominated, with designer Bill Blass Jeans for a more casual, practical style. Accessories included the unique cat-eye
glasses, sometimes worn with a chain.
Men looked clean-cut, a-la Jimmy Dean, wearing flat top and crew cut styles that were very short and easy to care for. Gray flannel suits dominated the
workplace and slacks were often worn for casual, everyday events.
1960s
The 60's began the "groovy" time when the babies of post WWII were growing up and finding their own style. Youth took precedence as they became
the largest population in the United States.
The beginning of the decade began with women wearing knee-length dresses leftover from the 1950s. Later on, mini-skirts, hot pants and go-go boots
showed a generation breaking away from their conservative parents. Bouffant hairstyles ruled, with hair accessories for adornment and to hold a
complicated style in place.
Men still enjoyed crew cuts but lost the bland, basic colors for brighter, eye-catching styles. Casual shirts were plaid, button down and polyester suits
and pants were appropriate for the workplace.
"Flower Power" and "Free Love" were all the rage when the 1969 Wood stock "Summer of Love" concert took place. Bell-bottoms became a hot fad that
emerged once again decades later. Beaded jewelry was the fun, must-have accessory to show individuality.
1970s
The 70's marked a freer, fun-loving society when the women's movement prompted them to burn their bras, sparking true liberation. Tube tops were
comfortable and sexy whilst mini-skirts and hot pants allowed more show of leg.
Long, flowing dresses and skirts with feminine, floral prints were the style for those not yet ready to join the others. Colorful, tie-dyed t-shirts became
popular fads for both women and men, none of them appearing identical.
Girls often wore culottes to school, not near as daring as their older sisters. Colorful, crocheted ponchos and satin jackets provided style and warmth
on a cool, summer night.
Hairstyles were feathered, thanks to Farrah Fawcett who set the trend for long layers and lots of fluff. Not only did women cut their hair to be like her,
they wanted to be blond. Brunettes began adding highlights to give themselves just the right touch of blond. Braver ones completely bleached out their
hair.
Corduroy and denim fabrics were a popular choice for men, available in pants, suits and blazers. Along with disco music, the movie "Saturday Night
Fever" brought high-waited suit pants and leisure suits.
1980s
What can be said about the 80's fads? From hair to jewelry to shoulder pads, it's big everything. Along with the long, teased hairstyles, makeup became
much bolder. Besides the somewhat "scary" factor, this decade sums up some fun music and styles that we'd rather forget.
1980's fashions for women were primarily long t-shirts and sweaters worn over leggings or tights. Influenced by the movie "Flash dance," off-the
shoulder styles were seen on just about everyone who kept up with the latest styles. Leg warmers looked not only sporty, but stylish as well.
Mini-skirts never lost their appeal and the 80s were no different. Denim minis in various colors worn with colorful high-heeled shoes were popular with
the younger crowd. Jelly shoes were cheap and provided a more casual look.
Spandex was introduced to the mainstream and was often mixed with other fabrics. Denim included stone washed jeans, ripped and with holes for the
hip crowd. Parachute pants were popular for men and boys and allowed comfort when hip-hop music required freedom of movement.
1990s
The 90's mark the end of the century with hope around the corner. Styles were not nearly as outrageous as the 80's and were toned down with classics
as well as new styles. Waistlines were creeping down, leading to the hipsters becoming popular once again in the next century.
The younger generation who expressed their individuality enjoyed grunge, gothic or a classic, vintage look. On the other side, preppy styles were for
the high school and college kids who wanted to show their clean-cut status.
Leather was popular for jackets, pants, purses and belts. Available in a variety of colors, wearing durable leather showed style, status and practicality.
Marrying later in life, women became dedicated to bettering themselves with higher education and good jobs. The demand for comfortable styles was
undeniable. Many businesses allowed work attire to become more relaxed and some toned down their dress code to "business-casual." Some
companies began allowing Fridays to be completely causal, resulting in fun and higher productivity.
Best Fitting Jeans
By far, blue jeans are the most important clothing in today's wardrobe. Because they are durable and can be worn with just about anything.
Why is it that you have one or two favorite pairs that you wear most of the time? It's probably because you have ran across a style and color that
looks best on your shape. Unfortunately, they eventually wear out, you gain or lose a few pounds, or you throw them out for a new trend.looks best on
your shape. Unfortunately, they eventually wear out, you gain or lose a few pounds, or you throw them out for a new trend.
If you would rather go to the dentist then shop for new jeans, you're not alone. Just the thought of trying on multiple pairs of jeans in the fitting
rooms can make the strongest of us cringe in fear.
Plan Ahead
Set aside a good chunk of time when you begin your quest for a good pair of jeans. If you're in a hurry, you'll probably make some bad decisions
and end up returning the jeans to the store.
Choose a Good Fit
Don't buy jeans because the size on the label looks good. Sizes and cuts vary widely by the brand, so start with your general size-range and don't be
reluctant to choose a size larger than what you usually get. A comfortable pair of jeans that fit well will look the best on you.
The Darker the Color, the Better
If you're concerned about extra weight, stay away from light-colored or stone washed jeans. Dark (indigo) blue and black denim jeans with some added
Lycra make you look slimmer and will go with just about anything. Choose angled back pockets to help minimize your backside and stay away from
jeans that have no pockets at all.
Look for a Long Hem
When you go shopping, wear a pair of shoes with heels that are (at least) similar to what you usually wear with jeans. For thinner-looking legs, the hem
of the jeans should cover a good part of your shoes and almost reach the floor. Keep in mind that when jeans shrink, so can the length -- so it's better
to go with the longer pair.
Go with the Boot Cut
Stay away from large flare legs that will add bulk. Boot cut jeans have just the right amount of curve at the bottom of the legs to look stylish and make
your legs appear longer.
Trends are OK
If you've been dying to try a pair of low-rise hipsters, go ahead. Just make sure you're comfortable wearing them and they don't aren't so low that
you've got too much showing. Wear a pair of bikini panties underneath so you don't have "granny panties" ruining your fashionable look.
Be Booty-licious
Create the illusion of a curvy backside with back pockets that are placed higher on the pant and stretched out more to the sides.
Minimize Muscular Thighs
When you have larger thighs, you usually need to buy jeans one size too big, which causes gapping at the waist. Remedy this situation by looking for
fuller jeans. Choose bootleg or flare styles, but stay away from tapered jeans.
Tall Ladies
Look for an extra long inseam. The Gap is a making a major movement towards creating jeans for all bodies and is a great place to look. Stay away
from flare styles and look for boot and straight leg jeans.
Shorter Ladies
If you want to seem taller, find jeans with straight legs, worn on the long side, to elongate your silhouette.
Larger Hips
Jeans that stretch slightly in dark denim are your best choice. Also, if you want to create the illusion of a little less junk in your trunk, opt for lower and
bigger pockets with little detail. They’ll give the appearance of a flatter booty.
Small Torso
Create the illusion of a longer torso with low-slung, hip-hugger styles. Remember, when trying on jeans, go with a snug fit. Jeans will start to stretch out
after one or two uses. Most importantly, know your body type and wear jeans that accentuate what you love about yourself and make you feel
comfortable.
Do it yourself Stylish Jeans
Cut Jeans
If you want to make daisy duke shorts, capri jeans, or just frayed ends – use scissors to create the basic look you want.
Sandpaper
Use sandpaper to distress slightly and create crease lines.
Distress
Use a Dremel, which is a rotary tool available at your local hardware store, to fray the denim and give it a worn look, or you can even use a coarse
brush with alot of bristles.
Customize
You can use bleach pens to write words or make drawings. You can also spray bleach onto a sponge and wipe or blot on the denim. Once
you’ve placed in the washing machine, the areas where the bleach was applied will lighten or turn white. Add more color by brushing on house or spray
paint. For added flare, sew on swatches or patches from different fabrics.
Place in the washing machine for a cycle. Remember, don’t wash with other articles of clothing or the bleach and paint might ruin them.
Dress Slimmer & Look Thinner
Everyone's weight fluctuates. While not everyone can be a size 6 or 8, the clothes you wear can make you look thinner.
You don't need to completely cover your body if you have extra weight, and not every tip will work for you. You have some great features, so
accentuate them and accessories. Find out what best flatters your figure and stick with it.
A small weight gain will make your clothes feel tighter, so always have some loose clothes available for those occasions. You can dress slimmer and
look thinner with these simple tips.
* Choose darker solid colors such as black, navy blue and gray. Black rules!
* Dress monochromatic, all in one color, top to bottom, no patterns.
* If you want to wear patterns, go for smaller ones that overlap.
* Avoid horizontal stripes. Look for thin vertical and diagonal lines for a fluid look.
* Select accessories to draw attention from trouble spots.
* Wear clothes that fit. Not too baggy but not tight and clingy.
* Avoid bulky sweaters and sweat shirts.
* Always try on clothes. Different designers have different size charts.
* Flat front pants and skirts are instant slimming.
* Low-rise pants that hit just below your navel will lengthen your torso.
* For longer looking legs, skirts should fall right above the knee.
* Extra ruffles and material only add bulk.
* Avoid shiny fabrics such as velour and satin.
* High heels add height and shapes your legs. That's why you always see runway models in heels.
* Dark panty hose will make large legs appear thinner.
* Stay away from patterned leggings.
* Wear undergarment foundations such as control top pantyhose and shapers.
* If you prefer wearing a sleeveless dress, cover your upper arms with a sheer, elegant shawl.
* Choose open collar shirts and scoop necklines.
* Avoid small handbags. Stick with a medium-sized bag in proportion to your body.
* A dress with matching coat can hide bulges.
* Match your belt and shoes to your skirt or pants to make your legs appear longer.
* Don't tuck your shirt in. Try those that fall just below your waist, but aren't too long.
* V-neck shirts will make your torso appear longer.
* You can still wear bright colors, just not on your problem areas.
* Frilly clothes just add to your overall size.
* Avoid too-tight pants that cling to your hips and thighs. Instead, try trousers with comfortable legs and wide cuffs.
* For longer, thinner-looking legs, opt for an asymmetrical, tiered skirt.
* If you're a petite woman, wear the highest heel you're comfortable with to add some height.
* A thick waistband helps flatten the tummy.
